Did you know that in 2023, Illinois experienced a tornado in 9 separate months? There were several significant events including 9 tornadoes on January 3rd, 2023; 37 tornadoes across Illinois on March 31st, 2023 resulting in 4 fatalities and 48 injuries; and 9 tornadoes on April 4th, 2023 with an EF3 injuring 4 people in Lewiston, IL.
And as we know, structural damage can occur without a tornado! On June 29th, 2023 a Derecho with winds recorded at nearly 120mph caused widespread damage across the State, including our Village.
